Gianluca Dingli, the young Karting driver forming part of BRM Virtu Ferries Racing Team, had another busy weekend recently in Sicily with his team manager Signor Mario Lena at Kartodromo di Triscina in Castelvetrano preparing for the final race of the Sicilian season.
He took part in this last race ‘Festa del Pilota’ in an unusual class for him 100cc pro-driver. Gianluca showed his talent from the first morning of practice on Saturday as he was always the fastest on track.
On Sunday in the pole based on two laps he managed to qualify in first place. In the race Gianluca led from the first lap to the finish this making him win the event in this class.
Lately Dingli has been appointed official driver for the Rotax Class for 2011 in the BRM Racing Team Brescia. The official appointing will take place on 16 January in the ‘Kart and Race’ Fair in Montichiari in Brescia, Italy, according to the websites www.brmracing.it and www.centrofiera.it.
This season ended in the best possible way for Dingli after winning the Maltese championship organised by Karting Club (Malta) and placing 35th from 110 drivers in the Italian championship.
The Rabat Local Council also named the Rabat born Gianluca as Rabat Youngster of the year.
