Gudja United dominated the first period and early on were very close through Trevor Thomas and Daniel Bonnici.
Then efforts by Thomas and Guazzo finished just wide and in the 19th minute the Mtarfa keeper brought off difficult saves to deny Thomas and Elvin Gauci.
In the 20th minute Gudja opened the score through a strong shot by Aaron Guazzo which was deflected by an Mtarfa defender and eight minutes later Gudja increased their lead through Trevor Thomas from a cross by Peter Paul Sammut.
In the 37th minute a shot by Peter Paul Sammut was saved by James Borg and just before the break Borg again did well to stop an Aaron Guazzo free-kick.
After the change of ends Gudja continued to push forward and early on were twice denied by Borg off attempts by Peter Paul Sammut and Elton Bugeja.
In the 70th minute the Mtarfa keeper brought off a fine save off an Aaron Guazzo free-kick with Mtarfa responding through a shot by Claude Bonanno which just missed the target.
Mtarfa then wasted a clear opportunity through George Curmi with Gudja getting a third goal in added time through Aaron Guazzo following good work by Elton Bugeja.

Xghajra T-Qrendi 0-0
Qrendi dictated the run of play during the first period and early on shots by Andre Formosa were saved by Xghajra’s custodian Roderick Camilleri.
On another occasion Qrendi were again close through Luke Magri and in the 29th minute an angled shot by Aaron Pendry just missed the target.
At the other end Xghajra’s striker Chris Dalli headed just wide off a Michael Magro free-kick and on another occasion Horace Pace shot just wide.
Just before the break Qrendi were denied by Camilleri off a shot by Jonathan Galea.
After the resumption Xghajra gained the initiative and on two occasions efforts by Neil Attard and Gordon Borg were well saved by Clifford D’Amato. In the 66th minute Qrendi were denied by Roderick Camilleri off a Johan Scicluna free-kick with Xghajra responding through a Martin Portelli free-kick which was saved by the Qrendi keeper.
Eight minutes from time Xghajra’s defender Michael Magro was sent off for a second caution and just before the final whistle Qrendi were very close through Chris Farrugia.
In added time Xghajra lost a clear opportunity through Chris Dalli.
