The SKSM Malta team which took part in a recent international tournament in Germany, has come back home with a good number of successes – 11 gold medals, two silver and four bronze.

The tournament saw the participation of about 150 athletes from Malta, Germany and Italy. The Maltese team consisted of Dalton Aquilina, Andrew Galea, Jamie Willoughby, Liam Gauci, Alenka Falzon, Lucienne Galea, Kieran Borg and Jonathan Falzon.

The SKSM said this was the best result ever achieved by its team in the past 10 years.

Apart from the medals won by the athletes, Lucienne Galea was rewarded with the Best Performance Athlete award.

Chris Galea, president of SKSM, said he was satisfied with these results and was proud of the local athletes who came back with 17 medals.

During the past year, SKSMK Malta took part in six international events around Europe. This year, it is hoping to take part in seven events, most probably in Hungary, Sweden, Ireland, England and Italy not forgetting, of course, the Malta Karate Open for which 11 countries have already confirmed their participation.
