Cambridge University and the John Dimond Invitational have arrived in Malta for the Malta Rugby League (MRL) Nines at Victor Tedesco Stadium, Hamrun, today.

The tournament features the Malta Selection against Cambridge University (England) and the John Dimond Invitational Team (Wales).

Arriving in Malta, Cambridge University team manager Thomas Brewster said his charges are excited at heading to Malta for their New Year training camp and that the Nines challenge will be a good measure for their new players.

Malta’s own representative selection will introduce Gozitan based Yorkshire teenager Daniel Ayres to a team of largely new players led by skipper Daniel Grima.

The two visiting teams will play in a three-way Nines challenge against a Maltese Selection from 7.30pm. Australian referee Phill Browne (pictured right) will officiate the evening’s fixtures.
