Maltese Olympic Committee President Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco was honoured with the European Olympic Laurel (photo), during the 30th European Olympic Committees General Assembly held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The European Olympic Laurel was presented to leading sports administrators namely Chingiz Huzeynzada of Azerbaijan, Vladimir Miller of Slovakia, Yuri Yuriev of Russia and Lino Farrugia Sacco.

This award is in recognition of outstanding services in favour of the Olympic Movement and in the citation following the award given to the Maltese Olympic Committee president, this was “for the skills developed thanks to his legal background which have proved most useful in various posts in the world of sport. These include the post as Executive Member of the Mediterranean Games , member of ENGSO Board and member of the Court of Arbitration in Sport and chairman of the European Olympic Committees Audit Committee and chairman of the Executive Board of the Games of Small States of Europe.”
