Malta Independent Wednesday, 19 January 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The competition resumes this evening with the four second round matches, the winners of which will advance to the quarterfinals.

Birkirkara, Valletta, Sliema W. and Qormi have received a bye into the quarterfinals as they finished in the top four positions in the Premier League last season.

Two matches are being played this evening at the Centenary Stadium and another two at the Hibernians Stadium.

At the Centenary Stadium, Floriana will be facing Mosta in the first match at 6pm. At 8pm, it will be the turn of Hamrun Spartans to meet Tarxien Rainbows.

At the Hibernians Stadium, the first match at 6pm is that between Hibernians and St Andrews. It will be followed at 8pm by the Marsaxlokk-Vittoriosa Stars clash.

The latter match is one of two all Premier League clashes in this round. Marsaxlokk will certainly start favourites considering that the Stars are bottom of the standings.

The other match is that between Hamrun and Tarxien where a keen clash is expected. In this match there seem to be no clear favourites and the result could go either way.

In the other two matches, Floriana and Hibernians will be facing first division sides Mosta and St Andrews respectively and should be considered firm favourites to advance.
