Zejtun FC have deplored the incidents which occurred after their match against Naxxar Lions at the weekend.

In a statement over the signature of club secretary Carmelo Abela, they said they deplore all incidents which are not in conformity with sporting spirit. It urged those concerned to take the necessary action so that such anti-sporting incidents are not repeated.

The statement also said that sensationalism by certain TV commentators does not help to ameliorate the situation, especially when one does not give a true picture of what had actually happened.

The club condemned any act that went against sports in principle and appealed to all to give their support to their favourites without being insulted and provoked.

The club also said it was ready to help the MFA and the Police in assuring a a cleaner and better atmosphere in Maltese sport.
