The first period was dominated by Siggiewi and after just a minute they were denied by Mtarfa’s keeper Duncan Galea off a shot by Roderick Farrugia with the ball being picked up Harun Ahmed Mohamed who shot out with an open goal.

Then Siggiewi were very close through Mohamed and Roderick Farrugia and later on efforts by Kim Buhagiar and Matthew Borg were well saved by Duncan Galea.

In the 31st minute Roderick Farrugia concluded just wide following a personal effort with Mtarfa responding through Jean Paul Ciantar whose shot just missed the target.

However in the 37th minute Siggiewi took a deserved lead through a low angled shot by Jason Camilleri.

After the change of ends Siggiewi sustained the pressure and early on they were denied by Duncan Galea off a close-range shot by Roderick Farrugia.

Then they wasted an open goal scoring opportunity through Harun Ahmed Mohamed and on further two occasions efforts by Roderick Farrugia finished just wide.

Mtarfa gradually reacted and in the 79th minute they were close through Jeffrey Azzopardi whose shot was cleared off the goal line.

A minute later Siggiewi’s midfield player Mark Camilleri almost committed an own goal but in the 85th minute Siggiewi increased their lead through a strong shot by substitute Josef Vassallo.

In added time Siggiewi’s striker Roderick Farrugia first wasted an easy opportunity and then had a header which hit the post. In added time Farrugia had a header which hit the post.

Qrendi-Swieqi U 0-4

Swieqi had a great start to the match as they took the lead with Fabien Debono beating Qrendi’s keeper Clifford D’Amato from close-range.

In the 6th minute Swieqi made it 2-0 as a cross by Eric Sciberras off by captain John Debono and in the 23rd minute a shot by Fabien Debono from the edge of the penalty area just missed the target.

On another occasion a shot by debutant Simon Borg, ex-Sirens FC, was saved with difficulty by the Qrendi custodian.

Just before the end of the first-half a shot by Mauro Desira was saved with difficulty by the Qrendi custodian.

After the break Qrendi pushed forward and early on shots by Robert Darmanin and Andre Formosa just missed the target.

On another occasion a shot by Chris Farriugia was well saved by Ryan Marmara but in the 61st minute Swieqi added a third goal through an excellent shot by Eric Sciberras.

In the 68th minute Swieqi missed a sitter through John Debono but in the 81st minute Swieqi made it 4-0 through a close-range shot by substitute Wildon Vella.

Seconds later a hot argument between Johan Scicluna (Qrendi FC) and Stacey Vella (Swieqi United) led to both players being sent off.

Fgura-Marsa 2-2

Marsa were close through seven minutes as a cross by Steve Buhagiar was headed on by Elland Vella with Julian Mallia bringing off a difficult save.

Two minutes later Fgura opened the score through a Vince Camilleri free-kick with Marsa responding through a header by Kirsten Buhagiar which was cleared off the goal line.

Then Marsa were denied by Julian Mallia off a strong shot by Johan Camilleri with Fgura being very close through Nazzareno Abela whise attempt was well saved by Marsa’s custodian Demis Grima.

The latter was sent off in added time for foul language. Just a few seconds after the restarts Marsa were back on levels terms through an own-goal by Fgura’s goalkeeper Julian Mallia who was later on substituted by Redeemer Tabone.

Fgura replied through shots by Nazzareno Abela and Vince Camilleri which were well saved by Jurgen Attard. However on 62 minutes it was Marsa who took the lead through a low shot by Jeremy Dalli with Fgura making it 2-2 on 76 minutes as Daniel Said shot in from close-range.

Play remained balanced with Fgura twice being denied by Jurgen Attard off attempts by Christian Grech and Matthew Spiteri with Marsa being very close through a dangerous effort by Oswald Zammit.

Gharghur-Gozo 7-0

Gharghur completely dominated their opponents during the first-half and after seven minutes took the lead as Benjamin Perry Acton headed in from a cross by Neville Arpa.

In the 19th minute Chris Vella finished off a good move by Ryan Debattista to make it 2-0 and then they added two further goals through Andrew Formosa in the 26th and 37th minute to increase their lead to 4-0.

Four minutes before the break the Gozitan keeper was beaten for a fifth time by Chris Vella following good work by Nenad Veselji.

After the change of ends Gharghur sustained their dominance and on 62 minutes they scored a sixth goal through an excellent shot by veteran Nenad Veselji.

Then Gharghur were twice denied by the Gozitan substitute keeper Jean Pierre Saliba off efforts by Chris Vella and Ryan Debattista but in the 80th minute Gharghur were given a penalty for a handling infringement and substitute Malcolm Tirchett scored from the spot to make it 7-0.
