Last Saturday, competitions in 10m Air-Rifle and Air-pistol were held at the Bidnija Indoor Shooting Range.

Many of the participating athletes showed good progress in their preparation for the oncoming European Small States Games and this reflected in their high scores. It is also with great pleasure to note that our lady shooters won first place in both the Air-Rifle and Air-Pistol ‘mixed’ competitions with some excellent shooting.

Marianna Kisvardai shot a remarkable 383/400 and a 571/600 to finish in first place ahead of second placed Daniel Grech who shot 521/600. Wayne Galea came third with a score of 502 and ahead of newcomer Luke Rosso who scored 404 points in his first competition.

Eleanor Bezzina continued to make headway with an unbeatable score of 370/400 and a 555/600 to win first place in the Air-Pistol event.

Ray Cacciattolo also improved on his recent scores and won second place with a score of 549/600. Josette Calleja also did very well to finish in third place with her solid performance obtaining a 337/400 and a 503/600 to beat stiff competition from fourth placed Emanuel Grech 494/600 and Martin Grech 487/600 was in fifth place.

Meanwhile, Malta‘s top air-rifle, William Vella, will be participating in the Hungarian International Open competition this weekend in Budapest.
