On Saturday afternoon Athletics Malta organised its annual road relay for clubs on the Marsascala course.  

This 4 x 5km course,starting and finishing near the medieval fort between Marsascala and St Thomas Bay, saw Zurrieq Wolves confirming their current form in non-stadia events.  

This club managed to make it three wins in a row with their four runners, Mario Grech, Adrian Mifsud, Joseph Saliba and Melvin Mifsud recording one hour four minutes and 40 seconds to out-run Pembroke Athleta, whose team posted the fastest leg with Mark Herrera managing the best time over the 5km loop on 15 minutes 54 seconds.  

Mellieha finished third in this nine-team event.

In the womens’ race it was St Patrick’s AC, with their foursome of Joelle Cortis, Carmen Hili, Rita Vella Galea and Angela Sammut, to come out victorious in a combined time of 1 hour 15 minutes and 53 seconds.
