Premier league side Floriana, in a statement issued yesterday confirmed that the Floriana FC committee accepted Johann Said’s resignation as president.

The statement added that although several attempts were made so that Said would remain, he stuck to his decision and the committee had no other option but to accept this resignation.

In the meantime the Floriana FC committee appointed Matthew Paris as acting president. Matthew Paris who accepted this role, met with the players on the eve of next week-end’s important match against Sliema in the old firm clash.

Matthew Paris also held a meeting with outgoing president Johann Said who forwarded a number of proposals.

It was also decided that a rally will be held tomorrow at the club’s premises for members of Floriana FC.
