Birkirkara continued to strengthen their squad yesterday as they obtained the services of 26 year old Nigerian striker Ibrahim Babatunde, till the end of the season.

The news was revealed on the club’s official web site.

Ibrahim Babatunde is no newcomer to Maltese football. In 2006 he played for Msida St. Joseph, then in the Premier League, and he left a very good impression scoring 18 goals.

His speed and technique were his greatest attributes and he was voted Malta’s Best Foreign Player in the same year.

Babatunde, or ‘Baba’ as he is affectionately called, was a free-agent which meant that ‘The Stripes’ had no pressure to sign him before the end of the January transfer market.

Babatunde may even make his Birkirkara debut tomorrow in the match against Qormi, pending clearance of papers.
