Malta Independent Friday, 4 February 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

A very entertaining game ably controlled by young and promising referee Dorian Caruana.

Paola H managed to turn defeat into victory after being 0-2 in arrears and they now occupy sixth place on 21 points from 13 games while St Patrick are in joint last spot with Naxxar L on four points from 13 games.

Galdes served Matthew Brincat on the left flank who then served De Gabriele with a cross but he drove over the bar from outside the area and Galdes served De Gabriele on the right flank but Meli partially saved his cross-shot and the ball was cleared to safety.

In the first attack by St Patrick they opened the score in the 9th minute. After the ball was partly cleared from a corner kick by Kurt Tabone the ball came in the path of Luc Fiorini who served Josmar Farrugia with a square pass and scored with a lobbed ball past a helpless Paola keeper Rudy Briffa.

The score became 2-0 in the 12th minute when Tabone floated a perfect high ball in the area from a free kick and in the melee that ensued Farrugia placed the ball in the net from close-range.

The reaction by Paola H was immediate. Mbong was fouled outside the area and De Gabriele missed the bar by inches from the resultant free kick.

Then Galdes pounced on a faulty goal kick by Meli, served De Gabriele with a square pass and Meli saved his effort from outside the area with a diving save in two attempts.

In the 23rd minute Paola reduced the deficit when Galdes served De Gabriele who scored with a grounder from a very acute angle.

Paola H levelled matters in the 43rd minute when Brincat served De Gabriele with a through ball outside the area and he score a picture goal with a hard rising shot.

In a Paola attack in the 61st minute they came very close a third goal when substitute Dario Tabone served De Gabriele in the area and Meli dived at his feet to smother the ball.

In the 63rd minute Paola scored a third goal when Brincat served De Gabriele in the area and scored with a low shot.

Two minutes before the end De Gabriale crowned a fine display by scoring a fourth goal after being served with a square pass by Tabone.
