My 21-year-old Maltese Australian niece was in Egypt doing archaeological excavations as part of her studies in Egyptology at the University of Sydney.
She got caught up in the current political turmoil that is gripping Egypt at the moment.
There was no way she would have gotten out of that county safe and sound had it not been for the help my family received from various sources here in Malta.
So on behalf of my brother Anthony and his wife Patricia, who live in Australia, my family and myself, I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the following people who worked incessantly to help her out namely: Mr Brian Muscat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Protocol section); The Maltese Embassy in Egypt; Mr Philip Cachia and Mr Gunther Chetcuti from the agency MISR Company Ltd, local representatives of Egypt Air and last but not least Ms Yvonne Ellul of Amphora Travel in Msida.
The care and professionalism shown when carrying out their duties was a tower of strength for all the family in this hour of anxiety and stand out like a ray of sunshine and hope in our times.
Keep up the sterling work you are doing and may God bless you all.
