I will not be quoting a perfect statistical take but am sure that the remark below, posted on a recent American blog, is the result of careful observation which women voters residing on these islands could do less than carefully consider:

“Fifty per cent of America’s women marry the man of their dreams who sucks the life out of her youth and dumps her at middle age and no job experience outside the home. The men go on to marry again, perhaps have more kids or make the new mother’s kids their priority, and leave their own children to struggle with the former wife.

“Always? No, but often enough... If a once-married, divorced woman in her middle years would be foolish enough to want to get married again, here are her chances: the same as being struck by lightning. I suppose the odds are a bit better if she wants to marry Grandpa Moses.”
