Court: Suspended Sentence

Malta Independent Tuesday, 15 February 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A man was yesterday given a two-year suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to assaulting a person legally responsible for rendering a public service.

Terence Agius, 41, of Floriana, also violently resisted the officer and behaved in an abusive manner.

The case happened early on Saturday evening at the National Stadium parking area in Ta’ Qali. Consequently, he was also ordered to stay away from the stadium for a year.

Police inspectors Robert Vella and Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.

Lawyers Jose Herrera and Veronique Dalli appeared for Mr Agius.
