The Bank of Valletta and the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) as well as the Waterpolo Referees Association reached agreement to extend the Bank’s sponsorship by a further three years.

Joe Caruana Curran, president of the ASA said yesterday that the sponsorship was very important for the association.

It will not only help the association in its financial needs, but it will also help to finance part of the projects which it is embarking upon soon at the national pool.

The national waterpolo team will benefit from the Bank’s support as well as local swimmers who will benefit from improved facilities at the pool in Tal-Qroqq.

Charles Azzopardi, manager marketing at the Bank of Valletta, said his organisation was glad to be associated with the ASA. “Our Bank is committed to sponsor several sports events on these islands. It is the second time we are signing a three-year sponsorship deal with the ASA. We are glad to be supporting this association which is doing its utmost to upgrade local standards in the game of waterpolo as well as in swimming,” he said.

Azzopardi and Caruana Curran signed the agreement. It covers all local waterpolo competitions – the Winter League, the national championship and the KO competition.

The Bank of Valletta also signed a three-year agreement with the Malta Waterpolo Referees Association.

The aim of this agreement is to support the development and training of referees, raising the level of officiating of the game and ultimately the level of the game itself.
