I refer to your article entitled “Stricter policy on filming in hospital after Emilja incident” (TMIS, 13 February).
Without going into the merits of what exactly happened, I would like to point out that the ‘Emilja’ series is not produced by ONE.
ONE broadcasts the episodes, true, but neither the Emilja cast nor the crew are employed by ONE and in no way represent the station.
ONE Productions categorically disassociates itself from any behaviour resulting in causing any stress to anyone, let alone hospitalised patients and/or their relatives.
We follow a strict ethical code when it comes to filming drama on location and our cast and crew are constantly reminded to treat all our hosts and their locations with the respect they deserve.
Incidentally, we have an excellent relationship with the Mater Dei Hospital Administration and I’m sure they can vouch for this, since we have filmed on various occasions without any mishaps.
I write this in good faith because as a drama producer myself, I cannot stress enough how difficult it is for the local TV industry to find suitable locations for filming and such incidents throw a bad light on all, which, in our case, is unfair.
