Allow me to reply to the letter appearing in another section of the press titled: “What deal for monti hawkers?” signed by Valletta councillor/correspondent Valerie Borg.

In her letter Ms Borg alleged that “the Prime Minister’s ‘sword’ is pointed at the Valletta hawkers”. She also stated that her “sincere sympathy goes to all hawkers who strive to earn their bread and butter every Sunday”.

Instead of attempting to spin cheap political propaganda, as a councillor on the Valletta local council she should have had the decency to explain why the local council did not to intercede on behalf of the St James ditch monti hawkers.
