Malta Independent Wednesday, 23 February 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The General Soft Drinks Co Ltd, through its brand Powerade, will be rewarding the first Maltese to finish the 2011 Land Rover Malta Marathon with the chance to participate in the 2011 Athens Classic Marathon which will be held on 13 November, 2011.

Powerade will cover the cost of flights, hotel accommodation and the Athens Classic participation fee.

Powerade is also supporting the 26th edition of the Land Rover Malta Marathon which will be held next Sunday by hydrating the 2,200 athletes.

Maintaining hydration before, during (where appropriate) and after exercise is important for performance. Whereas an athlete can lose up to two litres of water an hour, the body can only replenish one litre in that time.

Powerade is dedicated to supporting athletes who continue to push the boundaries of personal achievement.

This marathon will cover the distance of 42.2km and will start at Mdina at 8am. The finish line is set at Sliema Ferries with the first athlete expected to arrive at 10.15am.

The Malta Hospice Movement has been selected as the Official Charity for the 2011 Land Rover Malta Marathon.
