The 2010 cycling season started last Sunday with a team time-trial along the Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq Coast Road. Organised by Greens Cycling Club, the event was sponsored by Greens Supermarket and BBB Bike Parts.

Teams of four riders were set off at two-minute intervals to cover a distance of 40km. The leading four cycling clubs fielded their best riders in order to challenge for victory.

The battle was indeed tight, especially in the early stages of the race.

Team Greens again showed that they boast the best elements in time-trial as their first team, composed of national time trial champion Etienne Bonello, National Duathlon Champion Fabio Spiteri, Jason Vella and Christopher Gatt, stopped the clock on 56:59 winning the team challenge for the fifth time running

Maurice Formosa, Patrick Scicluna, Christian Formosa and Pierre Borg , representing Melita Pedal Power, were second in 57:35.

Qormi Scott, with Jack Schiavone, David Galea, Louise Debono Vella and Paul Zarb in their ranks, were third in 59:03.

Team Greens also claimed the honours in the individual races for Masters and Ladies with Joseph Bonello and Marie Claire Aquilina winning their respective categories. Twanny Pisani of Mosta AF Sign Studio won the race for the Over 50 category

The races for the under 15 went to Nina Zammit and Carl Xuereb
