New High Commissioner To India presents credentials

A Gozitan career diplomat, Theresa Cutajar, has become the first woman to be appointed High Commissioner of Malta. She yesterday presented her credentials as High Commissioner to India, to the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Following the presentation ceremony, High Commissioner Cutajar met President Devisingh Patil when she conveyed warm greetings from the President, the government and the people of Malta. On her part, President Devisingh Patil referred to the long established and excellent relations between the two countries. President Devisingh Patil also expressed her appreciation for Malta’s support during the recent election of India to serve as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
