Qrendi-Attard 0-3

Attard recovered from their defeat against leaders St Venera Lightnings with a convincing win over Qrendi with their young foreign player Erjon Beu being the star of the match.

Attard were close early on as a shot by Darren Galea was cleared off the goal line by Davide Mula but they took the lead in the 9th minute through a beautiful shot by Erjon Beu following good work by Kurt Zahra.

Qrendi responded through efforts by Andre Formosa and Robert Darmanin with Attard creating dangerous opportunities through Erjon Beu and Darren Galea.

Attard dominated the second period but early on Qrendi were unlucky as a headed attempt by Davide Mula hit the post.

In the 59th minute Attard increased their lead through a penalty given for a foul on Erjon Beu and duly converted by Kurt Zahra and they added a third goal ten minutes from time through Erjon Beu who managed to beat Qrendi’s keeper Leighton Mifsud with an angled shot.

Section B

Sirens-Gozo F.C. 3-0

This match , which had been postponed last Friday due to bad weather conditions, was dominated by the St Paul’s Bay team who enhanced their prospects of finishing in the fourth position in the league standings which would allow them to play a Promotion Decider.

Sirens opened the score on 35 minutes through a penalty scored by Ryan Theuma which also led to the Gozitan keeper Samuel icallef being sent off.

After the break Sirens managed to score two further goals through Stephen Pisani in the 65th and 74th minyutes respectively.

The Gozitans suffered their fifth consecutive defeat and remain penultimate in the league standings, just two points ahead of Kalkara.

Gharghur-Marsa 3-1

Leaders Gharghur notched their fifth consecutive win as they are now almost sure of playing Second Division football next season.

The first period was a balanced affair with both teams having a number of opportunities but it was Marsa who broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through an excellent free-kick taken by their foreign striker Yusif Abdullah.

In added time Marsa got the deserved equalising goal through Bejamin Perry Acton after the Marsa keeper had saved partially off a shot by Malcolm Tirchett.

After the break Gharghur played the better football and they managed to take the lead on 59 minutes through Beppe Pace from an Alexander Ribic corner-kick.

Gharghur continued to push forward and six minutes from time they made it 3-1 through an angled shot by Malcolm Tirchett following a personal effort. Late in the match Marsa were close on two occasions through Dousand Brincat and Peter Cachia.
