Malta Stock Exchange listed Medserv said on Friday that current conditions in Libya have forced the company to “significantly curtail” its activities in the country, where it has had a

subsidiary since 2007.

In a statement, the company said: “The exceptional nature of the instability that has been created in Libya is being kept under close review by the directors with the aim of obtaining reliable information that should enable them to assess the possible impact this might have on the company’s operations both in the short and longer term.”

The company, which is still servicing its clients from the Malta Freeport, added that, “…the level of uncertainty as well as the integrity of the information being received is such that it would be premature to make any assessment of the situation at the moment”.

In Libya, the company operates from the Misurata Free Zone and provides services to the oil industry. Misurata has reportedly been the scene of heavy fighting in recent days between pro and anti Libyan government

factions.
