Pieta Hotspurs registered their victory of the season demolishing lowly and sorry Msida SJ 6-0. Msida withstood the pressure in the first half, but in the second half there was no stopping the Blues who scored at will.

Substitute Jurgen Pisani was the inspiration for Pieta as he had a say in practically all the moves that led to Pieta’s goals. Incidentally this was Pieta’s second 6-0 victory over Msida, having won by the same score line in the Preliminary Round of the U*Bet FA Trophy.

Pieta dictated matters from the start as Msida had nothing to show up front. Campos and Bandeira were a constant threat to Msida’s rather shaky defensive set up. On 16 minutes Refalo passed towards Zach Muscat who blasted well over the bar from an ideal position.

On 31 minutes striker Campos beat the Msida offside trap but all alone in front of Mallia was denied by an excellent save by the Msida custodian.

Seven minutes later Pieta took the lead when Zach Muscat darted forward for a Refalo long ball, and he anticipated a couple of Msida defenders and the goalkeeper to flick the ball home.

Just before the break, Pieta came close to a second goal when Bandeira’s cross was met by Refalo whose effort appeared to beat Mallia, but not Matthew Borda who blocked the ball a meter away from goal.

On the resumption Jurgen Pisani was romped in for Quilin Refalo and the substitute immediately made his presence felt when he anticipated goalkeeper Mallia and crossed towards Zach Muscat whose lob was again saved on the goal line by Matthew Borda.

On the hour Pieta doubled the score when Jurgen Pisani crossed from the right and Zach Muscat headed home from the centre of the area.

Pieta were now playing in full swing with Jurgen Pisani again the inspiration when he crossed towards Bandeira whose first timer from the penalty spot gave Mallia no chance to save. Two minutes later Pieta scored a fourth with a similar action. Jurgen Pisani, again doing all the running, passing towards Bandeira who easily tapped the ball home.

Eight minutes from the final whistle Pieta scored their fifth goal when Zach Muscat passed towards Daniel Alves Campos who beat Mallia with a low shot.

There was time for more however when Jurgen Pisani made his way inside the area but was floored by Jonathan Mifsud. The penalty kick was taken by the same Jurgen Pisani who crowned a five star performance scoring in style the sixth and final goal.
