Marsascala were close early on through Terrence Cachia but they managed to take the lead in the third minute as a cross by Prince Ali Osman was finished off by their captain Matthew Gauci.

They were then again close through a shot by Malcolm Bugeja but in the 17th minute St.Venera drew level with Andrew Hili heading in from a Stefan Farrugia free-kick.

St Venera gradually gained the initiative and were twice close through two attempts by Dalton Wingfield and Rudi Carbonaro.

Just before the break the Lightnings were denied by Renald Attard off a strong shot by Kevin Vella.

After the change of ends play continued to be balanced with the Lightnings taking the lead on 59 minutes through an own-goal by Marsascala’s defender Alan Yeomans but six minutes later Marsascala got their deserved equalising goal through a strong shot by Ivan Galdes.

They were again close in the 70th minute through Malcolm Bugeja whose shot was saved by Cuschieri. with the Lightnings being close a minute later through Josef Taliana.

In the 75th minute Lightnings’ midfield player Andrew Hili was sent off for retaliation but St Venera continued to push forward and two minutes from time they scored the winning goal through an angled shot by Dalton Wingfield.

Kalkara-Pembroke Ath 0-2

Early on in the match Pembroke were close as a shot by Steve Micallef just missed the target with Kalkara being unlucky in the 17th minute as an attempt by Marvic Grech hit the crossbar.

Gradually Pembroke gained the initiative and were twice very close through Hicham Karkouch and Jean Claude Borg but on 27 minutes they managede to break the deadlock through an opportunistic goal scored by their captain Carlo Leonardi.

Kalkara replied through Melvin Pisani who shot just high over the bar with Pembroke almost scoring a second goal as a Steve Micallef shot was cleared off the goal line.

Just before the break Athleta missed a clear goalscoring opportunity through Leonardi.

After the resumption the game was very balanced with Kalkara being close after just two minutes as a shot by Kevin Tonna finished just wide.

In the 54th minute Kalkara ended up with ten players when defender Sinclair Camilleri was sent off for unwarranted remarks.

Pembroke then created dangerous opportunitiesthrough Jean Claude Borg and Hicham Karkouch, wheras on another occasion a Junior Sank free-kick just missed the target.

At the other end Kalkara missed a clear opportunity through Matthew Cassar and they paid dearly for this mistake as Pembroke sealed their win ten minutes from time through a low angled shot by Carlo Leonardi following a personal effort

Luqa SA-Kirkop U. 1-1

The first period was an exciting affair with both teams creating a number of goal scoring opportunities.

Early on Kirkop were close through a header by Ronald Spina and at the other end Kirkop’s defender Joseph Fenech almost committed an own-goal as his clearance hit the crossbar.

In the 12th minute Kirkop had a strong shot by Orianski Buhagiar which just missed the target and four minutes later Luqa had a free-kick taken by Nikolai Slavtchev which the Kirkop keeper turned onto the crossbar.

In the 23rd minute Kirkop were denied by Paul Psaila off a shot by Christian Mifsud and five minutes later Ronald Spina’s shot was deflected to a corner-kick.

In the closing stages of the first-half Luqa were twice denied by the Kirkop keeper off a shot by Mark Said and a Lee Baldacchino free-kick.

After the change of ends the game remained very balanced with Luqa being close after just four minutes through Roderick Debattista.

Kirkop replied through dangerous efforts by Josef Attard and Chris Farrugia with Luqa managing to score in the 71st minute through Lee Baldacchino who was however in an offside position and the goal was disallowed.

In the 75th minute Luqa were denied by Pryke off a low shot by Glen Azzopardi but two minutes later Kirkop opened the score as a Kevin Farrugia corner-kick was headed in by Ronald Spina.

Luqa’s reaction was immediate and after being very close through Glen Azzopardi, Adrian Psaila and Lee Baldacchino, they managed to draw level a minute from time with substitute Jason Good heading in past Daniel Pryke for a one-all final scoreline.

Sirens FC- Fgura U. 3-3

Fgura were close early on through Daniel Said who shot just wide but in the 4th moinute Sirens took the lead through a close-range shot by Ryan Theuma from a cross by Giovanni Galea.

Fgura’s reaction produced the deserved equalizing goal in the 22nd minute with Rodney Galea heading inb past Schembri from a Matthew Schembri corner-kick.

Fgura maintained the initiative and after being denied by Schembri in the 31st minute, five minutes later they took the lead through a lob by Matthew Schembri.

Fgura remained the better team and were twice denied by Schembri off attempts by Jovin Abela and Nazzareno Abela.

After the break Sirens attacked for long stretches and after four minutes a shot by Ryan Theuma was well saved by the Fgura keeper.

In the 55th minute Sirens had a goal scored by Giovanni Galea which was disallowed for an offside infringement with Fgura replying in the 67th minute as an effort by Lydon Vella was cleared off the goal line by Leandro Blanco de Castro.

Then a shot by Matthew Schembri just missed the target with Sirens coming back on 72 minutes as a free-kick taken by Leandro Blanco de Castro was saved with difficulty by Bonnici.

Sirens’ pressure paid off in the 81st minute as they deservedly drew level through an angled shot by substitute Andrew Xuereb but five minutes later Fgura regained the lead through a shot by Silvano Pace.

However in the 87th minute Sirens made it 3-3 as Andrew Xuereb managed to beat Bonnici from close-range. Three minutes into added time Fgura’s midfielder Matthew Schembri was sent off for a csecond caution.
