Matching full point wins for Ramis and okmalta.com keep the two tied for the Div I lead after six fixtures of the MSV Life National League. While Ramis’ whitewashed Gladiators in their match, okmalta.com managed to claim a more important scalp, that of the illustrious Fina.
Turu’s Knights also won big this week against Salitos. The first of two 6-2 results went in favour of The Clan over Grolsch, and the other was in favour of Middlesea Valletta PLC against Royal Shock.
Joint leaders okmalta.com claimed the result of the week, as they grappled all eight points from traditional team-to-beat, Fina.
Okmalta.com opened their account with a 708-757 initial victory, before going four points ahead with a closer 731-745 game two win. The pace dropped further for both sides in the last game of the set, that going 639-681 to round off okmalta.com’s eight point win. Mauro Anastasi (okmalta.com), 579. Sue Abela (Fina), 546.
Top team Ramis also claimed all eight to stay ahead of okmalta.com on pinfall, with sixth placed Gladiators ending up the losers.
Ramis started their streak with the team game of the night, winning game one 831-793. They then claimed the second 717-656, and easily won game three 824-738 to also take the team series of the week (2372). Rankin Camilleri (Ramis), 663, male bowler of the week. Jean Marc Galea (Gladiators), 557.
Turu’s Knights’ full point victory against Salitos was a very welcome one indeed, as it lifted from the bottom of the standings and out of the relegation zone, though only precariously so. The Knights did not have too much difficulty in bagging the opening game, winning that 661-731, but doubling their lead in game two was a lot trickier, 800-808 the very tense score line.
They could breathe easily again in the final game which they won 731-791, to make sure of the 100% win. Ryan Grech (Turu’s Knights), 587. Benny Hili (Salitos), 571.
The Clan picked up one of a brace of 6-2 victories in week six, with Grolsch ending up on the losing end of the score line, and dropping to the bottom of the table as a result. Ironically It was the eventual losers who were first on the scoreboard, winning the series opener 708-755.
Then The Clan came back to level the affair with a narrow 749-736 game two equalizer, before taking the match with a much better 805-741 win in the third. James Vassallo (The Clan), 593. Steve Cassar (Grolsch), 562.
The second 6-2 result swung in favour of strugglers Middlesea Insurance, to the detriment of Royal Shock. Middlesea begun with an easy 730-666 game one victory, before then doubling their lead to four points thanks to a 743-684 win in the second.
Their game then slipped to a poor 635 in the third, which allowed Royal Shock to steal their two point share with their own similarly low 649 effort. Pamela Demanuele (Middlesea Insurance), 552, female bowler of the week. Clive Farrugia (Royal Shock), 511.
