Holders Valletta were yesterday drawn to face Hibernians in the quarter-finals of this season’s U*BET FA Trophy.

In the other matches, Sliema Wanderers will meet Birkirkara; Qormi come up against Floriana while Tarxien Rainbows play against Vittoriosa Stars.

The matches are scheduled to be played on Saturday 19 March and Sunday 20 March at the National Stadium and Hibernians Stadium.

MFA Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Vassallo said that FA Trophy has always attracted large interest from fans. He added that as from next season, the competition’s new format will also give the small clubs a chance to make a surprise – Gozo clubs included – and that should make the competition even more interesting.

The competition is sponsored by Maltco Lotteries whose Managing Director Mario Cassar said the company considers the MFA as a partner. He hinted that there will be more cooperation in future.

Zejtun to face rivals Naxxar

The draws for the Quick-Keno Second/Third Division KO were also made yesterday. In the semi-finals, holders Zejtun were drawn to face rivals Naxxar Lions, while in the other match, St Venera will be facing Rabat Ajax.

The two matches are to be played on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May.
