Malta’s women team drew 1-1 with Armenia in the final match of Group 2 Preliminary Round of the Women’s UEFA Euro Championship yesterday.
This, however, was not enough for the Maltese girls to qualify and they had to settle for second place, with four points, one adrift of the same Armenia, the Group winners.
Malta took a 14th minute lead through a Rachel Cuschieri free kick. Armenia equalised past the hour with a Mangasaryan penalty.
In the other match, Georgia scored a late 1-0 win over bottom team Faroe Islands.
