On 6 March, we were at Valletta for Carnival and bought some candy floss. The seller did not supply us with any form of receipt.
After we finished the candy floss, we realised something odd with the paper that they were rolled around. After unrolling the pieces of paper, we found out that they were made out of used calendar pieces and history notes.
After complaining, the owner of the stand stated that it was an exception and it’s not their fault. We opened up another stick from another candy floss and found out that this was made out of manuscript paper. The owners of the stall this time came and offered us their apology and stated that it was not their fault but, rather, the blame should be placed on the people they imported them from. They also stated that sticks are forbidden for safety purposes regarding children and thus they have to use paper instead.
Even though a refund was offered, these still pose a health hazard due to them not being hygienic to both adults and children who buy candy floss from any stalls that buy from the same suppliers.
