John Soler of Sliema, photo, and Anthony Galea of Ta’ Xbiex are the players of the year of the Amateur Swimming Association (waterpolo).

The Council of the association nominated these two players for the awards and these were approved by the ASA executive committee.

The presentations to the two winners will take place on Sunday at the National Pool prior to the Neptunes Emirates vs Sliema McDonalds match in the case of John Soler and prior to the San Giljan Firetech vs Sirens Ritter Sport match in the case of Anthony Galea.

The ASA Executive has announced that it will shortly be announcing a new set of parameters to be used in the selection of this year’s award winners. This is being done to ensure complete transparency, and timely announcement in the selection of the winners for 2011.
