Malta’s Tony Drago lost 10-8 to Jimmy Robertson after the second and final session of their betfred.com world championship qualifier yesterday.
Drago made a superb comeback in the late stages of yesterday’s session going from 9-4 in frame 13 to 9-8 in the 17th, winning four frames in a row. Unfortunately that was not enough as Robertson won the 18th frame 69-12 to give him the victory in a match played on a best of 19 frames.
In Wednesday’s session opening part, Drago was just a spectator as Robertson won all the four frames in convincing style.
A 4-0 cushion was the best start for Robertson, but he could not maintain that pace after the break as Drago fought back to 5-3, before losing the final frame for the day leaving Robertson on a 6-3 lead into yesterday’s second and final session.
