I refer to the letter entitled: “Questionable accounts” by correspondent James A. Tyrell (TMIS, 27 February) in which the correspondent maliciously asserts the following: “Din l-Art Ħelwa council members occupy posts, some of them paid appointments, on the Valletta, Mdina and Cottonera rehabilitation committees, the St Elmo Rehabilitation Committee, the Climate Change Committee, the Majjistral and Mellieha Parks, Heritage Malta and the Mepa Board…”

Allow me to rebut this insinuation by saving that, (even though I do not happen to be a Din l-Art Ħelwa member), I have served as a member of the Valletta and Floriana Rehabilitation Committee more than once, in my capacity as representative of the Floriana local council and, like all the other members, I have never once received remuneration for services rendered.
