Tickets for the 2012 London Olympics have gone on sale, and organizing committee chairman Sebastian Coe says that so far there have been no problems with the online system.

Yesterday marked the 500-day countdown to the opening ceremony for the London Games on July 27, 2012.

Coe is urging fans not to rush to make their online applications for tickets, however.

The deadline is 26 April, and fans get no advantage by applying before that date.

Coe says the system “has been up since midnight. We have had no reported glitches.”

Tickets for many sports start at 20 pounds ($32), while the top seats for the men’s 100-metre final will go for 750 pounds ($1,200).
