There was no stopping the top three Maltese Airgun Shooters from achieving excellent scores in the eighth shooting competition in Air-Rifle and Air-Pistol in Bidnija yesterday.

William Vella shot an excellent 587/600 to win the air-rifle event in style achieving a new record score for Malta in this Olympic shooting event. Marianna Kisvardai also achieved an excellent score of 576/600 and 384/400 to break the Maltese record for the womens Air-Rifle event. Lawrence Darmanin placed third with a score of 536/400.

Meanwhile in the Air-Pistol event, Eleanor Bezzina continued with her progress in achieving another Maltese record score in the Women’s Air-Pistol event with an undisputable 375/400 and 564/600 to place ahead of Ray Cacciattolo (547/600), Emmanuel Grech (508/600 - a personal best), Martin Grech (480/600) and Josette Calleja (470/600 and 313/400 in the women’s event).
