With the assistance of your newspaper I wish to draw the attention of the Ministry and Government Department concerned, to a minor problem which can be easily put right in a matter of days, but which has been left to deteriorate due to lack of attention.

When St Joseph High Road in Santa Venera had new tarmac put down on the occasion of the Pope’s visit, for reasons unknown, every time a downpour of rain occurs, a large pool of rainwater gathers right in front of the entrance to the Chapel at St Joseph’s Home.

This pool of water remains there for a number of days until it dries up and fills up again every time it starts raining. This defect in the road surface is causing great inconveniences to all those who attend the Chapel.

May I point out that a considerable number of elderly persons and families with very young children use the St Joseph’s Chapel as their preferred place of prayer as well as to hear daily Mass. The pool of water is of great inconvenience to whoever tries to cross the road and also those trying to enter the chapel since they risk getting soaked from the cars passing by.

I wish to appeal to the Ministry and Government Department concerned to look into this matter and at their own convenience to take the necessary measures so as to have the fault in this part of the road arranged. It is not more than a day’s work.
