Malta’s Jeffrey Tonna is occupying eighth place in the Men’s Trap competition in the World Cup being held in Sydney, Australia.

On the competition’s first day, he registered a remarkably good score of 24 and 24 in the opening two rounds.

Leading the pack of 74 shooters is Portugal’s Ricardo Colaco with a maximum 50 (25 and 25). Next is Adam Vella, of Australia, but of Maltese origin, on 49, the same as Alexey Alipov of Russia and Stefan Ruettgeroth of Germany.

Next come a group of seven shooters, including Tonna, all on 48.

Also representing Malta in this competition are James Galea and Rennie Deguara.

Galea is in 45th place on 44 (20 and 24) while Deguara is in 57th place on 43 (21 and 22).

Another shooter representing Malta is Kathryn Mary Anne Cassar who is taking part in the women’s trap event. After the opening two rounds yesterday, she was in a lowly 42nd place on 34 hits (17 and 17).
