There was no stopping the top three Maltese Airgun shooters from achieving excellent scores in the eighth shooting competition in Air-Rifle and Air-Pistol in Bidnija yesterday.
William Vella shot an excellent 587/600 to win the air-rifle event in style achieving a new record score for Malta in this Olympic shooting event.
Marianna Kisvardai also achieved an excellent score of 576/600 and 384/400. She also broke the Maltese record for the women’s Air-Rifle event. Lawrence Darmanin placed third with a score of 536/600.
Meanwhile in the Air-Pistol event, Eleanor Bezzina continued with her progress in achieving another Maltese record score in the Women’s Air-Pistol event with an undisputable 375/400 and 564/600 to place ahead of Ray Cacciattolo (547/600), Emmanuel Grech (508/600 and a personal best), Martin Grech (480/600) and Josette Calleja (470/600 and 313/400 in the women’s event).
MARPSC and MSSF are very happy with these results that confirm that these athletes are peaking well in their preparation for the oncoming Games for the European Small States in Liechtenstein in a couple of months time.
