The Malta Volleyball Association will be holding its first Youth Coaching Course in conjunction with the University of Malta’s Institute of Physical Education and Sports. The Course will be starting next month.
This is the first time that the MVA will be holding a course aimed specifically at coaching young players and, following the introduction of the U-13 leagues, is another step in implementing its @investment in Youth@ policy and initiating the Volleyball Academy.
This Level 1 course, based on a series of three lectures and a theoretical and practical examination, is open to all past and present players who wish to be involved in the future of volleyball in malta, physical education teachers, students of the Institute of PE & Sports and MCAST, as well as anyone who wishes to be involved coaching Youth Volleyball.
Theoretical sessions will be given by senior lecturers of the Institute of Physical Education and Sport while practical sessions will be given by Malta’s national coach Srdjan Veckov.
Veckov was awarded back to back awards for Best Junior and Best Youth coach in Serbia in 2006 and 2007 respectively and, under his guidance, the Serbian Beach Volleyball teams won the Balkan Ladies 2009 and Men’s 2010 championships.
A full course programme can be viewed on the MVA’s website www.maltavolleyball.org .There is a course fee of €15 (€8 for students). Certificates will be awarded to participants who complete the course successfully.
