The KMS Sport Promotion Unit is launching the “Fair Play in Schools Awards” aimed at increasing awareness and developing a culture of fair play.
Fair play should always be at the forefront of sport as it is one of the core principles of any sport discipline. Kunsill Malti għall-iSport believes that our youngsters, from a young age, need to acquire firm values such as respect, discipline, solidarity and tolerance.
These new honours will be awarded on the basis of the athletes’ and officials’ attitude whilst participating in the various sports activities organised by the KMS Sport Promotion Unit throughout the 2010/2011 scholastic year within a large number of local primary and secondary schools.
The first of 10 KMS Fair Play Shields donated by Mr Louis Borg as FISEC Bureau member, will be presented at the end of the seven Inter-School Festivals, open to all schools and covering an assortment of sport disciplines such as basketball, futsal, handball, rugby and volleyball, which are currently taking place.
The KMS Promotion Unit will also be engaged to deliver a number of talks within schools on the importance, meaning and values of Fair Play in sport and life.
