140 Take part in successful first Lotto goalkeeper battle

Over 140 goalkeepers took part in the first edition of the Lotto Goalkeeper Battle which was held last week at San Gwann Football Grounds.

Goalkeepers in various age groups wo included Premier league keepers Manuel Bartolo of Birkirkara, Daniel Balzan of Hibernians and Jean Matthias Vella of Vittoriosa battled against each other in a classical tournament which was organised by international goalkeeper Mario Muscat and Simon Grech.

The following are the winners in every age group

U-9  Winner Matthias Debono (Valletta), Runner-up  Reeves Cini (Pieta).

U-11 Winner  Jake Pisani (San Gwann), Runner-up Amara Sylla (Birkirkara).

U-13 Winner Luca Caruana (Luxol), Runner-up Jacob Chircop (Valletta).   

U- 15 Winner Matthew Schembri (St Lucia), Runner-up Slaven Micallef (Naxxar).

U-17 Winner Matthew Calleja Cremona (Pembroke), Runner-up Justin Tonna (Lija).

U-19  Winner Karl Magri (Birkirkara), Runner-up Adam Fretwell (Sirens ).  

The organisers thankedall the sponsors - without their support this event would not have been possible, San Gwann FC for their continuous support, helpers for making the day a memorable one, all clubs/nurseries for their support in this event and, last but not least, all those who participated including also the hundreds that came to support their favourite goalkeeper.
