Qormi became champions, for the second year in a row, with a game to spare .
Needing only a point from this game they went two up by half time with two goals scored by Jonathan Borg in the 26th and 30th minute.
After a quiet opening to the second half, Hotsticks pulled a goal back in the 46th minute by means of a Ryan Dalli flick from a through pass into the D.
This sparked Hotsticks to increase their endeavours and after winning three short corners in the 51st, 54th and 55th minute, they were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute which Silvano Vassallo converted.
This forced Qormi onto the back foot and they were compelled to defend some strong Hotsticks’ attacks which saw their goalkeeper Ramon Chricop making two point blank saves and diving spectacularly to push a ball, destined to the top corner of his net, to safety.
In the 33rd minute, a mix -up which involved three Hotsticks defenders, left Jonathan Aquilina with a simple tap-in, to secure Qormi’s victory and crown a satisfactory season which has seen the team mature with aspirations for further success.
