The Neptunes Youth team were hosted by the Sicilian club of Pozzillo in Acireale for a three-day training camp held between 9 and 11 April.

A squad of 13 players aged 12 to 15 years was under the guidance of Neptunes Youths coach Guzi Attard and attended this training camp in preparation of the summer junior water polo leagues organised by the ASA of Malta.

The Neptunes and Pozzillo squads trained together and this helped so that both Neptunes Youths coach Guzi Attard and Pozzillo Youths coach Maddalena Musumeci could share their knowledge and experience for the benefit of their squads.

The Pozzillo Youths coach Maddalena Musumeci is a familiar name to the followers of international waterpolo. For many years, Musumeci formed part of the female Italian national waterpolo team and was a gold medallist at the Athens 2004 Olympics, 1998 and 2001 World Championships, won four European Championships with the Italian national team besides seven Champions Cup and nine Italian League Championships with her club.

A two-hour training session was held in the morning and in the afternoon during the training camp.

The Neptunes youths are now looking forward to the return visit of the Pozzillo squad at the Neptunes pool during the summer months so that they can continue sharing this enjoyable and fruitful experience.
