The 2011 San Michel Team Tournament at the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club came to a close last weekend after three months of competition.

This tournament, sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. through San Michel Table Water attracted the participation of 60 men and 42 women. They were grouped in six teams and the captains were Diane D’Alessandro,Christine Scerri, Vincent Vassallo, Carmen Difesa, Rinaldo D’Alessandro and Jonathan Camilleri.

Following the round-robin phase, the top placed 4 teams proceeded to play the semi-finals with the team led by Jonathan Camilleri eliminating Dianne D’Alessandro’s team while the team captained by Rinaldo D’Alessandro had the better of Vince Vassallo’s side.

The final, played on the VLTC’s Atlas Insurance Centre Court, was a hard-fought encounter which saw Jonathan Camilleri’s team carry the honours by beating the team led by Rinaldo D’Alessandro 7 games to 5.
