Motor-Sport: Maltese Teams at Croatia Trophy competition

A Maltese team is taking part in the Croatia-Trophy which is an international event, between 28 April and 6 May.

It will be organised by ‘Auto Klub’ Zagreb in Topusko, border with Bosnia for the 11th year.

This year there are 61 teams in the Trophy class, 14 teams in the Adventure class and two quads. They hail from around Europe.

The Maltese team consists of Kenneth Coleiro (driver), Massimo Magri (co-driver), Kenneth Turner (logistics and organiser), Steve Curmi (mechanic), Nicky Borg (technician) and Conway Cachia (helper).

The team left Malta yesterday on their way to Croatia via Livorno. The car is a Jeep with a corvette engine 510bhp, heavily modified.

There are two other Maltese teams taking part – these comprise Maurice Farrugia and Mario Xuereb with a Land Rover and Kevin Mallia and Allistair Caruana with a Maruti special.
