The tenth edition of the Malta Football Awards will be held on Saturday the 28th of May at the Malta Fairs and Conference Centre, it was announced at a press conference yesterday.
This year’s edition of the popular football awards ceremony will also re-introduce the much coveted Referees Award after a seven year hiatus, Events Services director and main event organiser Sandro Micallef said yesterday.
Micallef said that this was an important event for the company after ten years of successful organisation and a large number of winners over the decade. He said that there will be 19 awards in total with the main ones being those for Best Goal and Best Save for which six entries in each category have already been shortlisted although he stressed that the list could change anytime at the discretion of the organizing committee.
Micallef explained that the seating for the event would include a round table type for special gusts and normal tiered seating which can be purchased by the general public for the price of €15. The event will be presented by three well known sports journalists, Catherine Micallef, Simon Farrugia and Rodney Vassallo.
The press conference was also addressed by Go plc’s Communications Manager Vanessa McDonald who revealed that the company would be sponsoring the award for Best Goal and Best Veteran Player.
