I have only one word for such person of the like of Tonio Fenech (TMID, 27 April) – hypocrite. Where was his soul searching exercise when he, in collusion with others who project themselves as very devout Catholics, gave himself and his band the infamous €500 per week salary increase?

Did he have sleepless nights praying and thinking about those mothers and fathers who are struggling day by day to make a living? Did he pray for God’s intervention to illuminate him as to whether what he is taking is well over and above his taxpayers paid salary, is just? How many poor mouths could he and his Robin Hood’s band have fed with their combined hefty increase? Well perhaps he has the luxury to go for confession every day or week and because God is great he is given absolution by God’s ministries.

However, the principle to return back to the rightful owner that what is not his is overlooked. Shame, shame and forever shame. His actions are louder than any words. He can project himself as a devout Catholic as much as he can but he knows that whatever happens in this world it is only man’s doing.

He should stick to what he knows best; juggling around our hard earned cash and in the process contributing to family breakdowns and hardships. He knows the feeling poor guy! He said that this year he is feeling the pinch of a higher cost of living. I am sure that he is suffering hunger and is stretching his euro to make ends meet.

Only he and his band knows what is best for us, humble and ignorant people and sinners. We should all repent, eat less, entertain ourselves less and not mix with the righteous ones. I am sure that every Monday morning the government holds a vigil at Castille, praying for our needs and wants.

People from many walks of life attended the Our Lady of Sorrows procession; those with a bright future, a bleak future, a destroyed future, genuine believers, hypocrites, the media hungry, those who do not earn a living and those who cannot have enough.

However, God embraces all. Only intelligent people differentiate between who is a sinner or not, who is right or wrong, who should eat and who should eat more, who should be immune from suffering and who should suffer and not being listened to.

I only have God to thank for giving me a mind of my own. The God I believe in does not fool around with the intelligence of his mortals.
