The season came to an end recently with Aloysians Handball Club being crowned winners of the most prestigious titles, that is, Men’s and Women’s Senior Leagues.
The first game to be played was of the women’s team who played against their eternal rivals, La Salle. The game proved to be one of the most breath-taking, exciting and emotional games in the history of female handball in Malta. The level of both teams was impeccable. Both sides showed, from the very start, their determination to fight till the very last minute for the title.
Both teams had avid supporters, ready to encourage their beloved teams all through the game. The players were hyped up by their support, however their concentration did not falter.
Led by captain Brenda Camilleri and goalkeeper Marylyn Agius who proved to be a great asset for the team, Aloysians Żmerċ ladies won back their title which, for the past two seasons, was won by La Salle.

The Men’s game was another spectacle of brilliant handball, technical play, defensive and attacking skills.
Aloysians VonTaine retained their title when they were crowned Maltese Champions for the third time in a row. Aloysians won their last encounter against Phoenix to claim their tenth national championship on the club’s 15th anniversary.
The great support for the teams showed from the very beginning, with face-painted supporters in red and white for Aloysians and Phoenix supporters ready to cheer their team. It was a very competitive and exciting game.
The match against Phoenix was dominated by champions Aloysians in the second half after starting slowly in the first part of the game.
Veteran Roberto Ragonesi gifted the spectators with some spectacular goals. However a word of praise goes to the goalkeeper Terrence Cassar. With vengeance he defended his post with constant success.
The final result was 24-16 showed that Aloysians deserved to win this season’s title.
This year the national championship was a very balanced affair, with Aloysians and Luxol being in contention up until the last match day.
