Education win football title
The Malta Employees Sports Association continued with more sports activities and by now all football competitions were recently concluded.
In the first division, Education were crowned champions gaining 25 points, with the Armed Forces C Team finishing second with 17. In third place were the Armed Forces A Team with 15. In this division HSBC and Central Bank were relegated.
In division two, Enemalta were superior and deserved being crowned champions with a total of 27 points with the Govt.Printing Press in second place with 20 and MRRA (Resources) in third place with 15.
The first two teams were promoted, with Customs and MEPA being relegated.
In the third division, Malta Post won the title with 27 points, with the MRRA (Agriculture) in second place and the Govt. Property Dept. and the Civil Protection Dept finishing jointly in third place.
Malta Post and the MRRA were also promoted to the second division.
During the month of May the MESA is holding the Knock Out competition with the final scheduled to be held at the end of the month.
Enemalta dominate
bowling competitions
Enemalta dominated the bowling competitions for the teams and individually.
As a team they finished first with a total of 1,072 pins, with GO in second place with 1,032, and third the Malta International Airport B with 968 with Bank of Valletta in fourth place with 890. Ray Falzon of Enemalta was the winner in the Individual competition with a total of 614 pins. Mark Spiteri of GO finished second with 572 and third place was won by Tony Paris also of Enemalta with 563.
Alfred Scerri wins
darts competition
Alfred Scerri of the Armed Forces won the Darts competition. He was without doubt the best player winning all his matches in his group and beating Vincent Bonnici also of the Armed Forces in the final 3-1. He also reached two maximum points of 180.
In the semi final Scerri beat Joe Bilocca of OHSA 2-0 and in the other semi final Bonnici beat Jeffrey Farrugia of the Armed Forces 2-0.
Road race
MESA will be holding the 5Km road race on Thursday 12 May at the Salina Coast Road with the participation of a good number of athletes from various departments.
The first three men and lady athletes will be awarded trophies and also the first three veterans and the first three teams. Those who wish to take part and have not yet registered, may do so by contacting Mario Saliba on 9946169.
