Valletta FC have been linked with Italian 36-year-old striker Nicola Amoruso.

The popular website tuttomercatoweb.com. included the item among its transfer rumours, adding that the player was trying to restart his career in Malta with the country’s most popular club, Valletta FC.

Amoruso did not figure prominently in Atalanta’s march towards the Serie A this season – he was mainlky on the sidelines.

Last week, City president Victor Sciriha said they already had contacts with some foreign players and Amoruso could be one of them.

The Valletta boss is eager to see his team reaching at least the third round of the Champions League next season.

Amoruso made his Serie A debut in December 1993. During his career, he also spent five years at Juventus. Later he played for Napoli, Como, Modena, Messina, Reggina, Torino, Siena and Parma before joining Atalanta in January of last year.
